The Human Body depends on water for survival. All the cells, tissues, and organs in the body survive on the water to work. Keeping the body hydrated helps the heart to pump blood easily through the blood vessels and helps the muscles to work efficiently. Every human being needs to drink 6 to 8, 8-ounces glasses of water each day. However, it mainly depends on the body, everyone needs different amounts of water to stay hydrated. The amount of water needed by a human body also depends on climatic conditions, clothing, exercise intensity, and duration.
 
Water is the best fluid to stay hydrated. Other drinks and foods can also help the human body to stay hydrated. Fruits, vegetable juices, milk, and herbal teas add to the amount of water intake in a human body. Even caffeinated drinks can contribute to the water intake in the human body. Some alternative sources of water include grapes, watermelon, soup, smoothies, etc.
Sports drinks with electrolytes are useful for people doing vigorous exercises.
 
Dehydration is the condition that occurs when the fluids you lose from your body are greater than the fluids you take into the body. Low levels of dehydration cause headaches and constipation. The causes of dehydration include vomiting, diarrhea, sweating. Athletes, people at higher altitudes, older adults are more at risk of dehydration. So it is important to keep the water levels balanced in the body.
